Tumblr gets more money to burn.

I've always loved Tumblr, and in my mind the simplicity and ease of use it brings to posting on-line should be used by everyone. Now, having said that, I'm not using it as much as I used to because of the simplicity. I hope that makes sense, its a great idea and it works really well but its lacking the name recognition or niche use community that could help it survive.

Unfortunately its another website that's burning money figuring out a way to profit from page views.

The article mentions "Founder and tech wunderkind David Karp" as the man with a plan. From reading the quote it sounds like he has an awesome buzz word generator...I believe its a model from the late 90's. Here's a sample “After looking over our roadmap, John, our team, and I all felt that staying on our current track – experimenting with new paid features and optimizing the ones with early traction – was the best way we could spend 2010.”

Huh? What? They're adding paid features? Really? That makes sense...charge for services that are free somewhere else. Don't get me wrong Karp is clearly intelligent and good at what he does, I just think that people forgot about the fall of web 1.0.

Maybe I'm the only one on the whole magical interwebosphere that's old enough to remember the bubble bursting. If a website isn't making money how many more rounds of funding are they gonna get?

I hate saying it...but "here comes another bubble"

Google Docs gets an upgrade.

From the Official Google Docs Blog.

"Today, we’re pleased to announce preview versions of the new Google document and spreadsheet editors and a new standalone drawings editor, all built with an even greater focus on speed and collaboration."

Click the link and you can read more and watch the video too.

Of course there's a downside...sorta.

Starting on May 3rd they will no longer support Google Gears Offline for Google Docs. What does that mean for you? Well if you use Google Docs and like to keep stuff on your PC and synced "in the cloud" you won't be able to sync it anymore...at least for now.

Sometime soon Google will continue offline support through HTML 5. So it'll be faster, more compatible, and easier to use instead of having to install gears on all your browsers.

So if you use Google Docs and haven't downloaded all your documents in the cloud in a while you probably should. Here's how. Exporting Multiple Documents at once from Google Docs.

Finally, Google updates for the Blackberry released.

When Google Buzz was released one of the biggest issues I had with my Blackberry was the lack of an app for it. I was so jealous of all those iPhone and Android owners that would rub it in.

Today Google released a huge upgrade to Google Maps for Blackberry, which includes search by voice, Labs, Starring, and Google Buzz!

Read the details at the Official Google Mobile Blog.

If you don't want to read anymore and just want to install it go to
m.google.com/maps in your Blackberry's browser.

iPad Hacked, are you really surprised?

Looks like just a few hours was all it took for someone to hack the ipad. The hack allows someone to run unsigned apps which basically means Apple didn't get paid for them. (Well they might have been paid by someone, but probably not you!)
